I spent 2 years pre-medical at the University of Dubuque Iowa and then 4 years at the New York State Veterinary College at Cornell University graduating in 1964 as a veterinarian. The first 2 years I worked in upstate NY as a predominate large animal veterinarian specializing in cattle, horses, sheep, swine and poultry. I also cared for dogs and cats for the local population. I moved back to Long Island and for the next 4 years worked in a dog and cat hospital which I expanded to include reptiles, birds, marine, horses and wildlife. I opened my own national award winning hospital in 1970 on Long Island and provided care for any animal that could be brought to the hospital. I continued to treat some farm animals, circus, wildlife and worked with a stranded marine animal organization to help whales, dolphins and other sea life.

For the first eight years I was a conventional veterinarian practicing surgery, drugs and vaccines. In 1972 I put a dog to sleep as I had no ability to help him further. I realized that I was not curing or helping animals as I had expected, wanted to and felt my training should have provided me. That year I discovered acupuncture and attended an international conference. I saw acupuncture being used on humans and animals from doctors, dentists and veterinarians from all over the world who had gone to China to study this therapy. In 1973 I took an extensive course (120 hours) in acupuncture for animals (first of its kind in the U.S.) and started using this therapy in my practice with miraculous results. I had also studied human acupuncture, but since I was a licensed veterinarian, I applied it only to my veterinary practice.

Every year the International Veterinary Acupuncture Association would hold a yearly conference to continue training in acupuncture. We would also invite practitioners from other natural methods of healing to instruct us. From that point forward, for the next decade, I studied, completed courses and trained in herbology, natural nutrition, vitamins and minerals, acupressure, kinesiology, color, sound, magnetism, laser therapy, glandulars extracts and many other natural therapies as I was weaning myself away from conventional medicine.

In 1981 I took courses in homeopathy and radionics as it applied to animals and incorporated those healing modalities into my hospital practice. Subsequently from that point I spent many thousands of hours (in the U.S. and England) being trained by homeopathic masters learning how homeopathy applies to humans. In 1997 I completed a two year specialized course (500 hours) in classical homeopathy and received my degree as a Homeopathic Master Clinician (H.M.C.). I continue to study and train to improve my homeopathic skills.

In 1986 I decided to leave conventional medicine permanently so I put the hospital and practice up for sale finally selling in 1989. I moved to Florida and ceased to practice or provide conventional medicine and surgery for the treatment of disease and ill health. After the move to Florida I returned my New York and Florida licenses to practice veterinary medicine. I opened the Affinity Holistic Clinic and became the first doctor to provide totally holistic therapies for animals in Florida and one of the first in the United States. I then expanded the clinic to include adult humans and children. I am a Doctor of Classical Homeopathy and in my career I have treated over 300,000 animals that walk, fly, swim and crawl both conventional and holistic. I have treated approximately 600 adults and children homeopathically. In October of 2012, after being fed up with the life style and negative energy in Florida, I relocated permanently to Idaho where I will spend the rest of my life providing the services I did in Florida.

I have lectured extensively in many venues including TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, health and pet stores and more. Educating the public so they can take better care of themselves, their family and pets is very important to me. There is a lot of false inaccurate information in society and that causes people to make the wrong decisions in life.

Conventional doctors are only concerned with the physical body, which is why we have specialists who only treat specific areas of life forms, i.e., humans, dogs, cats, birds, etc. and also target body parts, i.e., cardiologist (heart), orthopedic (bone), neurologist (nerve). In contrast, as a homeopathic master clinician, I am concerned with all aspects of the human/animal who is sick. The physical, mental, emotional, and psychological levels are all important. All aspects of the life are examined, from birth to adulthood, their track through life, including family background, schooling, health of parents, vaccines, surgeries, drugs, injuries, etc. Being an ex veterinarian I know the limitations and side effect/dangers of conventional medicine.

To work with any life form on this planet is a challenge. To help a person/animal on the path to wellness takes education, patience, training, experience, knowledge, compassion, firmness, warmth and a sincere desire to make a difference. My approach is strictly non-invasive and entails working with the person/animal to find the best path to health and wellness.

Sincerely, Dr. John Fudens HMC DVM PH
